The Lake Michigan Sailing Club, established in 2016, operates from five Lake Michigan harbors: Waukegan, Milwaukee, Winthrop Harbor, Kenosha, and Racine. Our primary aim is to facilitate connections between boat owners and crew members. Ownership of a boat is not a prerequisite for membership in the Lake Michigan Sailing Club. We actively seek crew members to support boat owners in sailing endeavors. Even if you lack sailing experience but are eager to learn, we are more than happy to provide assistance and guidance.
Sailing on Lake Michigan offers a diverse array of experiences, ranging from tranquil and serene moments to thrilling and heart-pounding adventures, often dictated by the ever-changing weather conditions. A day on the lake can commence with a leisurely breeze, gently gliding across the water’s surface, offering a peaceful respite from the bustle of daily life. However, within moments, the wind may pick up, transforming the serene atmosphere into an exhilarating and adrenaline-filled sail. This dynamic nature of Lake Michigan ensures that no two sails are alike, each journey presenting its own unique challenges and delights. It is this unpredictability that imbues each sailing excursion with a sense of anticipation and excitement, making every outing a fresh and invigorating adventure waiting to unfold.
